Napolina gives a man who can't park one thing he gets right

The tactics behind 'Now You're Cooking' and the question that could get you there.
Napolina gives a man who can't park one thing he gets right

Napolina · Pablo · United Kingdom · October 2026

Financial jargon floors him. Parking signs defeat him. Even an AI chatbot leaves him confused. But the man at the centre of Napolina’s ‘Now You’re Cooking’ knows his tomatoes. Pablo’s first campaign for the brand suggests you don’t need to have everything figured out to make a good dinner. Knowing which tin to open is a decent start.

The Challenge

After three years without significant above-the-line support, Napolina wanted a distinctive, ownable way to show home cooks the quality of its ingredients. Its premise: life already adds enough mental load, so the right ingredients should make cooking the easy part.

What They Did

The launch spots, directed by Craig Ainsley at Arts & Sciences, follow a hapless home cook through a series of small defeats: a dinner guest's financial jargon, the parking restrictions on his street, an overly complimentary AI chatbot. Each ends the same way, with a good spag bol made with Napolina. The comedy premieres on YouTube rather than TV through October and November, alongside 'Your Bolognese Will Thank You' posters at major train stations and near stockists. TV, VOD and digital follow in 2027.

Why It Works

Napolina stays in a British kitchen, with British embarrassment. The cook's incompetence everywhere else does the persuading: if he can make dinner work, the tomatoes must be doing something. The claim is small: one thing that goes right in a day that otherwise doesn't. That's a believable kind of help.

Creative Deviance: Unexpectedness

Napolina casts a man defeated by a parking sign. The surprise has a purpose: his failures everywhere else are what make the kitchen success credit the product. It's a new platform, so whether the cook becomes a recognisable Napolina asset is still to be seen.

Creative Deviance comes from Publicis London's How to Move the World study with Effie and System1, which names five levers that push work away from the safe middle.

The Tactic

The Unlikeliest Ambassador → Let Incompetence Prove the Point

What to Steal

Put the ad where the skill is learned. Napolina premiered its comedy on YouTube instead of TV, because that's where its home cooks already go for recipes and tips. A cooking ad watched among cooking videos arrives in the right frame of mind.

The Question That Could Get You There

Who is famously bad at this, so a good result proves the product does the work?
